Eddy Current Testing (ECT)

Service Overview

Surface & Near-Surface Defect Detection

Eddy Current Testing is a non-destructive examination method that uses electromagnetic induction to detect surface and near-surface discontinuities in electrically conductive materials. Changes in the induced eddy currents are evaluated to identify relevant indications and assess material conditionfor evaluation.

Typical Applications

Tubes & Heat Exchanger Tubing

Examination of conductive tubes for discontinuities, localized wall loss and material degradation

Welds & Conductive Components

Inspection of suitable welds and conductive components for surface and near-surface discontinuities

Conductive Industrial Components

Examination of conductive components for cracks and other relevant discontinuities without damaging the inspected material.

Inspection Objectives

Detect Surface & Near-Surface Defects

Identify cracks and other discontinuities at or close to the material surface.

Identify Material Changes

Detect electromagnetic response variations associated with changes in material condition.

Assess Component Integrity

Evaluate eddy-current indications to support assessment of the inspected component's integrity.
