Magnetic Particle Testing (MT)

Service Overview

Surface & Near-Surface Defect Detection

Magnetic Particle Testing is a non-destructive examination method used to detect surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials. The test magnetizes the inspection area and uses magnetic particles to reveal indications for evaluationfor evaluation.

Typical Applications

Welded Joints

Inspection of ferromagnetic welds for surface and near-surface discontinuities

Piping & Components

Examination of ferromagnetic piping, fittings and components for cracks and other relevant discontinuities.

Machined & Fabricated Parts

Inspection of fabricated and machined ferromagnetic components for surface and near-surface discontinuities

Inspection Objectives

Detect Surface Defects

Identify surface and near-surface discontinuities in ferromagnetic materials.

Reveal Fine Indications

Make magnetic-particle indications visible for inspection and evaluation.

Verify Surface Integrity

Assess inspected areas for relevant discontinuities affecting component integrity
